This section will provide an overview on the technology innovation HK needs to carbonize the hard to abate sectors, including trucks, shipping and aviation. Hydrogen, sustainable fuels, carbon capture and storage, electrification will have their specific role to play in different circumstances.

Senior Associate
Kathy Xitong Gao is a Senior Associate with BNEF based in Hong Kong. She leads the BNEF’s hydrogen coverage in the APAC region with a focus on China. She leads the team’s coverage on hydrogen export, demand, and company activities. She has spoken in lots of international conferences, including the Indonesia Net Zero Summit and the ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2022. Before joining the hydrogen team, she was in the Technology & Innovation team with BNEF covering digital technologies and early-stage climate technologies.
Kathy holds a Master’s degree in Energy Resource and Environment from Johns Hopkins SAIS in Washington DC and a Bachelor in International political economy from Renmin University in Beijing. Before joining BNEF she had project finance experience in a solar development company and a battery startup in the US.
